Aikyatan Development Society (ADS) is a reputed implementing and training organization dedicated to
improving the socio-economic status of the targeted vulnerable community residing at rural Purba Burdwan by
addressing prevailing social
issues like poor health, sanitation, WASH, menstrual hygiene, MCH, adolescent health, unemployment and
geriatric issue through implementation of integrated sustainable development model in order to witness a
positive impact on socio-economic and health status of the marginalized community with active participation
of empowered SHG and established linkages with service providers.
Aikyatan Development Society (ADS) has been implementing an integrated intervention under sustainable partnership
with Water Sanitation Mission Burdwan Zilla Parishad, District Rural Development Cell Bardhaman, Sarva Siksha
Misson Bardhaman, CARE India, Panchayat Samity of Ausgram- I&II, B.P.H.C, Public Health & Engineering (PHE)
Department Bardhaman division and other technical support organizations like Freedom from Hunger India Trust
and Healthy World Foundation to create a healthy environment for targeted community wherein development has
been integrated as a continuous process of the organization.
Aikyatan Development Society (ADS) was established in the year 1999 under Society’s Registration Act,
1860 with a vision to carry out integrated development program in hard to reach remote rural areas of
Purba Bardhaman District of West Bengal state. In order to witness a sustainable holistic development
in targeted areas, empowered women collectives in the form of Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been identified
as building block in the process of development. In the last 25 years, ADS is in transition from health
education to sanitation, safe drinking water, solid waste management, nutrition and MCH and geriatric
care program and also had established a strategic linkage with government system to promote sustenance of
this integrated initiative.
ADS is also registered under the section 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 as well as registered under
the provisions of FCRA. The organization has intensively been working in 2 blocks of the district through
functioning of SHGs with strong government linkage focusing primarily on community health, sanitation and
livelihood issues. With the implementation of various programs, the organization believes in strengthening
capacity of its stakeholders through Capacity Building initiative, enhancing strategic linkages with stakeholders
and application of need-based participatory training modules leading to improved knowledge as well as change in
behavior of the targeted audiences in given time frame.
