Staff Capacity Building:
Building social capital is one of the prioritized areas of ADS through frequent capacity building exercise. Along with skill development initiative, the hands on training of field staff are quite common in ADS. The combination of both skill enhancement and on the jobs training has enabled ADS staff to gain practical knowledge, technical skill and management of field intervention during project period. Both theory and practice skill of field staff have been integrated with supportive supervision to produce better outcome. Therefore, staff capacity building initiative as well as timely refresher training has been considered key to produce desired outcome of any intervention.
Sanitation Program:
ADS has signed an MOU with both Ausgram-I & II Block of Purba Burdwan district to carry out sanitation activity through installation of low cost household latrines under Mission Nirmal Banga scheme of the government. Under this initiative, deserving beneficiaries have been encouraged to avail benefits of installation of household latrines under subsidy scheme of the government to stop open defecation and also to inculcate a habit of using latrine to ensure personal hygiene and household sanitation.
Water quality monitoring surveillance Program:
ADS has well equipped laboratory for chemical as well as bacteriological water testing facility with experienced staff. ADS has been entrusted to carry out regular testing, monitoring and surveillance of water quality from collected water sample from existing water sources located in all GPs of both Ausgram-I & II Blocks.
Linkages Initiative:
The synergy between demand and supply produces better results where linkages initiative gives impetus to ensure sustained relationship between service providers and beneficiary. Having realized the importance of linkages initiative, ADS has integrated linkages plan into itโs existing program in order to bridge the existing gap between demand and supply around government programs. This initiative of ADS has not only established strong relationship with service providers rather it helps service providers to develop confidence in ADS in executing any health intervention at community level. With this intervention, enhanced outreach of health department has been reported with improved footfall of beneficiary at the community level.
Geriatric Care Program:
UProgress of any nation often invites some unprecedented nature of crisis in the society to deal with. Unlike other thematic issues,
geriatric care component has gaining importance in present context. With the increase in life expectancy ratio, the number of
population within unproductive category happens to be major concern in our society. This situation is the outcome of improved
health awareness, healthy life style, good food habit and advanced health care with use of modern technology. Seeing the urgent
need of poor rural aged, ADS has decided to reach out to those uncared for elderly with sustainable intervention focusing basic
health care facility, access to various government schemes earmarked for elderly program and create an eco-system where elderly
can spend quality time with others through various recreational activities. This initiative will not only address issue but also
will address social and psychological issues of the elderly. At present, ADS has been involved in collecting data from the field
to understand about challenges being encountered by the elderly as well as the existing opportunities available for the elderly.
In addition to field survey, monthly home visit has been planned to collect basic health information of the elderly to develop
a database for next course of action.
Objective of this partnership is to create a basic awareness on rational use of medicines, encourage community to visit doctor
for any health complications and remove any blind faith or superstitions associated with health seeking behavior.
