Our Intervention Milestone in brief

Integrated Nutrition and Health Project:

This integration nutrition and health intervention included supplementary feeding, Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) supplementation and Tetanus Toxoid (TT) for pregnant women and immunization for children upto 5 years of age along with promotion of ante-natal care, immunization, exclusive breast feeding with timely adequate complementary feeding practices amongst lactating mothers in project areas.


National Rural Livelihood Mission:

ADS has so far formed 2421 SHGs under Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojona (SGSY). The bank linkages under SGSY program could able to raise bank loan for SHG to support animal husbandry, paddy husking, kantha stitching, small cottage industries as locally appropriate livelihood initiative.
A total savings of Rs.17 Crores of 2421 SHGs where a cash credit of Rs.11 crores have been received with outreach of 25,000 families to promote sustainable economic development.


Total Sanitation Campaign Program:

34,250 families have been brought under low cost sanitary toilets construction program and 384 nos. of primary school, 51 nos. of SSKs, 39 nos. of Secondary/higher schools and 384 nos. of Anganwadi Center (AWC) have been covered under institutional latrine with water facility. This outcome of this intervention has reported enhanced incidences of latrine usage at household level with reduced incidences of open defecation in intervention areas.


School Sanitation and Personal Hygiene Education Program:

151 nos. of primary schools have been brought under school sanitation and personal hygiene education program with provision of easy access to safe drinking water, toilet facility for both boys and girls, inculcate appropriate hand washing habits at critical hours amongst students through systematic health education cum follow-up strategy.


Handpump for clean water supply:

Under safe drinking water initiative, ADS could able to install around 20 handpumps in 20 primary schools located in Ausgram Block.


Rain Water Harvesting:

This scientific technique ensured the stored rain water to be used for both domestic as well as agricultural purposes. Under this initiative, ADS could able to reach out to 8 nos. of water scarcity GPs of Ausgram Block with low cost rain water harvesting program.


Mini water supply scheme (Sajal Dhara Scheme):

ADS was pioneer in implementation of Sajal Dhara scheme in 2 water scarcity villages of Ausgram to ensure easy access to safe drinking water through piped line against meagre community contribution to encourage community ownership of the program.


Kishori Shakti Yojona:

KSY – scheme is to empower adolescent girls aged between 11 – 18 years through life skill training, health education and enabling them to avail benefits of various government schemes to ensure holistic development linking with ongoing ICDS program. Around 5 thousand adolescent girls were brought under this program from both intervention blocks.


Liquid and Solid Waste Management Program:

ADS has applied the principle of 3 R’s namely Reduce, Re-use and Recycle in management of liquid and solid water at community level with active participation of the community. This system has introduced household collection of garbage & waste, scientific disposal of garbage and making environment friendly for habitation.


Deprived Urban Children Program:

With various development initiatives, ADS has taken up step to introduce life skill education, career counseling, computer education and basic English course for deprived and dropped out children through partnership with like-minded organization/institutions to use and exchange each other’s expertise/resources to build solid foundation of those children with an idea to allow them to act like responsible citizen in days to come. So far, ADS could able to establish 5 centres with Guskara Municipality with enrollment of 193 BPL and vulnerable children motivated to attend formal school leading to reduced incidences of school drop-out with improved retention rate.


Community Health Care Management Initiative (CHCMI):

CHCMI is an ambitious initiative of Panchayat & Rrural Development (P&RD) to bring in a convergence of health services at the community level. Under this initiative, 15 blocks have been covered with support from CARE and District Public Health Cell of Zilla Parishad. It encourages community involvement in health care management through awareness generation and capacity building. It aims to reduce incidences of malnutrition and mortality rate among young children, women and infant and at the same time, educating community on prevention and control of prevailing vector borne diseases. This program enables community to have easy access to care and compliance with treatment. The positive outcome of intervention has noticed improved compliance rate of TB patients. The community led total sanitation campaign had ensured improved incidences of construction of household sanitary latrines and on the other hand, installation of handpumps had ensured easy and timely access to safe drinking water supply.


Community based rehabilitation for persons with disability (CBR):

ADS in partnership Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP), Kolkata – a premier technical support organization in eastern India, had taken up a community based rehabilitation intervention to address challenges being faced by people with disability in intervention villages. It aims to enhance the quality of life of the people living with disabilities by providing more equitable opportunities by promoting and protecting their fundamental rights. Health department had organized handicapped camps in collaboration with both the blocks.


Social Audit:

As a Civil Society Organization -ADS has been selected to carry out social audit in 16 nos. of Blocks of Purba Burdwan district to support and monitor the activities of village resource persons.


Rogi Sahayata Kendra:

ADS has been engaged in 4 nos. of Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) and 2 nos of Rural Hospital in Purba Burdwan district to provide assistance to RSBY (Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana) Card holders to avail benefits of health insurance.
